Tidal logo: global activism in Leeds

Hello everyone, after a slight delay we have finally got back on track with our newsletter. Along with our events we would also like to point you towards a petition that has been set up to end government subsides and other financial aid to the fossil fuel industry.

Tidal Winter Warmer


When: Thursday 15th December, 18:00-21:00.

Where: All Hallows Church, 24 Regent Terrace, LS6 1NP.

What: Come out from the cold and thaw out your toes at Tidal's Winter Warmer. With music, crafts, mulled wine and hot food we will wrap ourselves up in Tidal warmth.



Cafe Economique - 'The Divide'

When: Tuesday 10th January, 19:30.

Where: Seven Artspace, 31 Harrogate Road, LS7 3PD.

What: Screening of the documentary film ‘The Divide’, with Prof Richard Wilkinson

Professor Richard Wilkinson, co-author of ‘The Spirit Level’, co-founder of The Equality Trust; Emeritus Professor Social Epidemiology, University of Nottingham Medical School; Honorary Professor, University College London; Visiting Professor, University of York.



Student Sustainability Conference

When: 3rd February 2017.

Where: University of Leeds.

What: The University of Leeds will be hosting it’s first Student Conference on Sustainable Futures. This unique event, open to Leeds students at any level (UG, PGT, PGR), from all disciplines, will showcase research, projects and creativity relating to an aspect of sustainability. The theme of the conference is ‘Sustainable Perspectives on Future Challenges’, a broad theme which could include innovative work in carbon reduction or urban development, challenges in healthcare, social equality, policy and governance, international trade, sustainable energy, the circular economy, food security or any topic which has a positive impact in society.
