Welcome to Tidal’s special summer newsletter. Along with the normal events we’d also like to point you towards a survey to help with the redevelop and revamp of the Leeds for Change website. The survey should take no more than 5 minutes to complete and there will be a chance to win a prize, a gift voucher to a local coop or social enterprise in Leeds!

The Tidal Summer Apoco-quiz - Seeking Answers to 2016


When: Monday 22nd August, 19:00.

Where: Wharf Chambers, Ground Floor, 23-25 Wharf Street, LS2 7EQ. (map).

What: Celebrate our apparent demise with some cold, hard facts, the likes of which are sadly missing in your life today!

Come get yourself quizzed and help raise money for Tidal - supporting global justice action in Leeds.

It's £2 to play and you can either come and join friendly people to make up a team or come as a ready-formed team.



Tidal's Summer Craft Workshops

When: Tuesday 16th August - Thursday 25th August.

Where: All Hallows Church & Community Projects, 24 Regent Terrace, Leeds. (map).

What: Craft for global justice!

Relax this August with some eco friendly crafts. From bath bombs to cushions there's something from everyone. No experience necessary!

The proceeds will go towards Leeds Tidal, who support coordinate and grow global justice action in Leeds. We are in desperate fundraising mode, so every stitch, bath bomb and bunt really does make all the difference. This money will help ensure we can carry on providing training, campaigning, events and support for global justice action in Leeds.


  What the frack!

Barclays - Stop Funding Fracking!

When: Saturday 6th August, 11:00-12:00

Where: Market Place, Huddersfield, HD1 2AA. (map).

What: Huddersfield Friends of the Earth action to keep up the pressure on Barclays whose subsidiary Third Energy now has permission to frack in North Yorkshire. Plans are to dress up as waiters offering fracked water c/o Barclays plus the will be anti-fracking music.

Northern Green Gathering 2016

When: Thursday 11th August - Sunday 14th August

Where: Bradley Nook Farm, Hulland Ward, Ashbourne, Derbyshire DE6 3EL. (map).

What: A family friendly Gathering with a focus on sustainable living, health and healing. Four stages of sustainably powered music plus a huge range of workshops and activities for both kids and adults.

As well as being a celebration of love, life and music, NGG is an educational and campaigning gathering, bringing people together to transform the world for the better



Leeds Zine Fair 2016

When: Saturday 10th September, 11:00 - 18:00

Where: Left Bank Leeds Cardigan Road, LS6 1LJ. (map).

What: Leeds Zine Fair is back for a massive celebration of zines, self publishing, radical politics and DIY culture.

There will be a wealth of stuff going on with 50+ stalls, workshops, a Zine in a Day printed there and then from pages designed by punters, have-a-go screen printing, badge making and more!

There will also be food including wood fired pizzas from Streatza and a licensed bar all day.



Running Great Workshops with Leeds Tidal

When: Saturday 24th September, 10:30-16:30.

Where: Ebor Court , Skinner Street Westgate, Leeds, LS1 4ND. (map).

What: Leeds is often called a 'city of helping hands' and this workshop is designed to help you use your helping hands to share your campaign, change making and community skills.

The day is based on the excellent training from Seeds for Change. They say: Running a great workshop isn't rocket science. There are some simple techniques and skills that will help turn a boring, forgetful workshop into one that's empowering and memorable.

This day course is for grassroots organisers and activists to develop the skills and confidence to design and facilitate engaging, participatory and fun workshops. From guerilla gardening to writing a press release, from mass catering to working in affinity groups, if you have a skill that social movements need, come to this workshop to learn how to share it.



Schumacher North Annual Gathering 2016

When: Saturday 8th October, 10:oo-17:00.

Where: Carlton Hill Quaker Meeting House, 188 Woodhouse Lane, Leeds, LS2 9DX. (map).

What: This year we the Schumacher North Gathering be looking at the broad approaches to how we can create the paradigm shift needed to find our way back to a viable relationship with Nature and pull back from the brink of environmental calamity



Blogging for Change with Tidal

When: Thursday 13th October, 19:00.

Where: Ebor Court, Westgate, Leeds, LS1 4ND. (map).

What: The keyboard is mightier than the sword. Blogs by individuals, groups and online magazines are increasingly influencing society, and in a world where the mass media's agenda excludes so much of importance, they're a vital tool.
